Formulation and Evaluation of Natamycin Solid Dispersion Incorporated Ophthalmic Films

Abstract: Background: The aim of this study was to enhance the solubility Natamycin, an antifungal agent used in fungal keratitis, through solid dispersion incorporated ophthalmic films with purpose avoid frequent dosing, period retention, and sustaining release for better patient compliance. Materials Methods: Firstly, dispersions were prepared by solvent evaporation method then, best formulation into which casting using retarding polymers Ethyl cellulose, PVA Chitosan. PEG-400 as a plasticizer. evaluated their thickness, surface pH, drug content, weight uniformity, folding endurance, tensile strength, antimicrobial activity, in-vitro ex-vivo permeation studies, studies. Results Discussion: exhibited good mechanical properties promising results acceptable range. optimized NF6 shows more studies compared ex-vivo.
